CMI Chemically Bonded Molding & Coremaking

Arena-flow Product Manager, Peter Blaser, will be an instructor at the Cast Metals Institute "Chemically Bonded Molding & Coremaking" course. The course will be held August 3-5, 2010 at AFS/CMI headquarters in Schaumburg, IL.

Each of the chemical binder systems and molding methods is reviewed along with equipment, processing and washes.  This course covers all processes and their effective applications (cold box, shell, nobake, hotbox, warmbox) as well as related defects.

A computer modeling component was added to the 2009 class on a trial basis and, due to overwhelmingly positive feedback, computer modeling has now been made a permanent part of the course starting in 2010.

"Computer modeling for castings became commonplace at the end of the 20th century," said Blaser.  "Now we're in the 21st century:  computer modeling is not only available for core making, but it is even being mandated by some automotive OEMs.  CMI is staying on top of such technical advancements by adding a computer modeling component to the coremaking course.  It is an honor to be a part of that effort."
